Type I ActivitiesClick here to see what students have been learning and doing in the Type 1 time every week!
------------------------------------------- Definition: Type I activities are meant to serve as exposure experiences for students. Activities could include field trips, documentaries, and guest speakers. Click here to learn more. ------------------------------------------- Debriefing is one one of the most important aspects of any Type I activity! It allows students to reflect on the experience and will ideally lead them down the road towards an eventual Type III experience. ------------------------------------------- Type I Notebooks Students each are required to keep a Type I notebook where they record any pertinent information from all Type I experiences. At the beginning of the year, students will tape in the form where they will keep a list of the experiences they have and their level of interest. It is the hope that activities with high interest will develop into some form of Type III. In addition, keeping track of students' level of interest is helpful in determining future Type I experiences.
Student Interest SurveyIt's important to survey all students about their current interests. The interest inventory below is a great tool to use at the beginning of the year when beginning to plan Type I opportunities.
In addition, the survey could be used a pre/post to determine if and how student interest changes over the course of a school year! |
