A new technological tool seems to appear each week—how is a teacher
supposed to keep up? Add that to a classroom full of students with a wide range of interests who are counting on you to push them further, and you have a recipe for possible burnout. This strand will highlight tools to help the classroom teacher individualize and tantalize students in Social Studies and Language Arts. The workshop will focus on (1) utilizing Edmodo and high‐interest, interactive websites to differentiate physical geography; (2) creating documentaries and book trailers with iMovie, green screens, and digital voice recorders; (3) National History Day projects for all students with the help of Livebinder and Weebly; and (4) connecting and inspiring readers with web‐based tools such as author and student blogs, Biblionasium and Goodreads. |
